Once called the Villa Menafoglio, the Villa Litta-Panza was built in the mid 18th Century. Situated on the hills of Biumo this Baroque villa was once the residence of the Viscounts Litta of Arese. Unusually, the villa was constructed in a U shape with the courtyard facing away from the front. Now owned by the Panza family, it houses an important art collection. Founded by Giuseppe Panza in the 1950s it holds contemporary art by well-known artists and includes Minimal-Art and Pop-Art. Count Panza bought around 2500 artworks, many of which were presented to museums around the world.
