The Ugento Ponds are located in the coastal area between St. John Tower and the tip of Macalone. The pine forest, the basins, scrub and dunes of the Ugento area are an extremely complex ecological system. These flooded marshes have an interesting flora typical of the habitat and includes species such as carice spondicola, sedge, and lisca. Prized here is the Ugento Pineda (also known as the Roccacapozza) which is said to be around three hundred years old.
