Agostino Giusti’s intension when he designed the garden was to create a beautiful setting for the villa which also bears his name. Inspired by the Renaissance style, Giusti laid out the terraces in a geometrical pattern of flower beds and hedgerows. To this he added mythological statuary, fountains, grottos and a maze. Emperors and kings have visited the gardens and famous names who have been inspired by its beauty include Mozart and Goethe.
