The Bishops Palace in Verona (Palazzo del Vescovado) was constructed in the 15th Century on top of existing ancient and 14th Century buildings. A monument, commemorating Monsignor Giovanni della Casa whose writing on social etiquette (Galateo) was published in 1558, can be viewed in the building that leads into the palace. The interior of the Bishops Palace, entered through a handsome door of black and white marble, has statues of Peter, Paul and Michael and in a semi-circular aperture sits a stunning enthroned Madonna.
