Scaliger Castle
Villafranca di Verona - Italy

Map
Scaliger Castle in Villafranca di Verona was built between 1199 and 1202. It was abandoned in 1450 and later bought by A. Alessandri or G. B. Simeoni, the Count of Villafranca. Inside the walls are seven towers which were built from recycled stones from the Arch of the Emperor Tiberius. The main tower was erected in 1890, when a clock was also inserted. The Villafranca Castle hosts a number of events such as the Saint Peter and Paul Festival, Student Art Day, an outdoor summer cinema, concerts, and a cabaret and theatrical event.
