The main structure of San Pietro di Castello dates back to the 7th century, as does the fortress that gives this whole area its name. San Pietro di Castello was rebuilt and enlarged probably around the 16th Century, by the addition the chapels for the Lando and Vendramin designed by Longhena. The font, as it’s seen today was the design of Palladio. Peter’s throne is a magnificent structure made from an Arab sepulchral sculpture and is well worth a visit.
