Saint Peter Church in Volta Mantovana was first documented in 1037. This parish church is built in Romanesque style. It was altered in the 15th Century and restored in the 18th Century, when two further naves and several chapels were built. There is a lovely 18th Century high altar with marble intarsia and some fine oil paintings, including an altarpiece on the high altar by Verona artist Pietro Rotari dated 1749. Also here are frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries, uncovered during recent restoration and these can be found in a chapel of the church.
