The church of S. Pietro Incarnario gets its name from the ancient Roman ’carnarium’. This literally means the abattoir or charnel house and cemetery, upon which the church was built in 955. There were some rebuilding work done because of damage caused during WWII, however remains of the old building can be seen in the cellar of the current church. In the church is a votive shrine dedicated to the ’Vergine, S. Pietro, S. Giovanni con lo scultore e le stimmate di S. Francesco’ and built by Giovanni di Rigino.
