Peggy Guggenheim was a wealthy American who began collected contemporary artwork after befriending modern artists such as Alexander Calder and Marcel Duchamp. The museum is home to a collection of art which includes work by Bacon, Balla, Brancusi, and Chagall. Also featured here are the works of De Chirico, Kandinsky, Klee, and El Lissitskj, Magritte, Man Ray, Picasso, and Pollock.
