Visitors arriving in Verona by train will pass through two gateways, the first is the Porta Nuova and the second is the ’Portoni della Bra’ at the entrance of the Piazza Bra. Comprising two stone archways the ’Portoni della Bra’ was built in 1480 on the same site as a gateway that was part of the city’s medieval walls. A pentagon shaped tower still remains, an only remnant of the fortifications built at the time of the Viscounts.
