The historic village of Bezzecca sits in the centre of the Ledro Valley. In the summer months it becomes a haven for tourists with its river, the Assat, essentially dividing the village into two distinct districts – Villa and Luta. Bezzecca’s main claim to fame is that it was the setting, in 1866, of the battle between the Italian army under Garibaldi and the Austrian army during the Third Independence War. There is a park on the San Stefano hill where the Path of Peace winds through the trenches.
