The Archaeological Museum is just a few minutes walk from the Marciana Library and is one of the oldest museums in Venice. It was built in 1523 at the bequest of Domenico Grimani. It is home to some incredible items including findings of Egyptian, Assyrian-Babylonian, Greek, and Roman origin. There is a large display of coins and statues which date from the 4th and 5th Century B.C. Latin epigraphs, vases, and busts dating from the Imperial period are also on view.
