Founded in 1543, the Accademia Filarmonica’s museum-library is the best place to go for all music scholars. Entrance is gained through the museum. It has an interesting section on old music from the 1500s and another which specialises in 19th Century compositions. The library houses masses of texts devoted to the history of music. The building also serves as a museum and displays many wind instruments from the Renaissance that were used by the Philharmonics.
