The Villa Volkonski is on the Via Ludovico di Savoia and made up of three buildings but is mostly known for the park in which many ancient ruins have been found, including statues and columns. It is thought a Roman road once ran through here, after tombs from the imperial era were found close by. It was the Russian family of Volkonski that gave the complex its name, and Zenaide, the wife of Prince Volkonski retired here after the death of Tzar Alexander I. It is now the home of the British Embassy and the British Ambassador’s residence.
