The Villa Medici 16th Century villa is today the home of the France Academy and is in a panoramic position not far from Trinità dei Monti. When in 1540 Cardinal Camillo Crescenzi bought the building that became Villa Medici, it was a sober rustic house. In 1576 it was passed to Ferdinando dei Medici, who put in charge of the renovation and decoration works Camillo Agrippa and Ammannati. It is thanks to Leo XI, Alessandro dei Medici, relative of Ferdinando, that many important archaeological finds were bought and housed here.
