Valentino Park is a green expanse which covers some 50,000 square metres within the city. In the 14th Century Emmanuel Philibert acquired an estate on the left bank of the river Po, known as Valentino. It was the Savoys who liked to hunt here and who were responsible for keeping it meticulously maintained. It became a public park in 1856 and the architect Barillet-Déchamps rebuilt it in 1864. It extends from Principessa Isabella Bridge to Umberto I Bridge. It has a bronze statue of Quintino Sella and Valentino Castle, the seat of the faculty of architecture.
