Turin’s Porticoes are one of the best-known features of the city. They cover around 18 km, and on rainy days it’s possible to visit the city centre without getting wet. The earliest were those of Piazza Castello, which date back to the 16th Century and which were designed by Ascanio Vittozzi. In the 17th Century those of Piazza San Carlo and Via Po were erected. Building continued up to the 20th Century with those of Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Via Pietro Micca and Via Cernia, Via Roma and Via Sacchi, Via Nizza, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Corso San Martino.
