The Neo-classical church of Santo Stefano alla Lizza was originally built in a Romanesque style in the 12th Century. It was due to the greatly extensive remodelling and restoration towards the end of the 17th Century that changed its original look. But it is still an attraction building and has some fine features which include the polyptych by Andrea Vanni at the entrance. This church is the home of one of the great altarpieces of Siena – a Maesta by Andrea Vanni (1400).
