Sant’Antonio Nuovo
Piazza Sant’Antonio, Trieste 34132 - Italy

Map
The church of Sant’Antonio Nuovo is the largest confessional Catholic Church in the Borgo Teresiano area of Trieste. It backs onto the sea and was rebuilt by the Austrian Empress, Maria Teresa. It was from a plan by Pietro Nobile that the church construction started in 1828 and it was completed in 1849. It’s built in a neo-classical style, and with a facade of six ionic columns that support a tympanum and an attic decorated with statues of local martyrs. It is in a perfect location, not far from Piazza dell Unità d’Italia and the canal.
