The church of Sant’Agostino built in the 11th Century has see much in its varied life. Beset by numerous fires, it was restored by Luigi Vanvitelli in 1755. It is unfortunately no longer used as a church but as an art gallery that runs frequent exhibitions. However, inside is a joy with the ‘Crucifixion’ by Perugino, Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s ‘Majesty’ in the Piccolomini Chapel and in the lunette near the altar is Del Sodoma’s ‘Epiphany’. You can also see the frescoes by Francesco di Giorgio Martini and Luca Signorelli in the Bichi Chapel.
