The sanctuary of St. Rosalia is located near Santo Stefano di Quisquina. Built in 1760, it is set amid a huge oak wood. To gain entrance to the small grotto you have to pass through a narrow corridor so low that you need to get down on hands and knees. Inside is a statue, in the high altar, of St. Rosalia by Filippo Pennino (1756-1797 covered by ex voto and messages left by her devotees. The church has frescoes by the Manno brothers. Visitors can also view a room of the hermitage which contains the mummified bodies of monks.
