San Pietro alla Magione is one of the Templar churches which abound in cities that date from the Middle Ages. This one has its origins before the year 1000 and later passed into the hands of the Knights of Malta. It has a very fine façade and inside is a single nave accessed through a Gothic doorway. The Renaissance chapel is a later addition. Apparently, the church is dedicated to all those who have read Umberto Eco’s ‘Foucault’s Pendulum’ 36 times.
