The San Pietro a Corte is the most important Longobard foundation existing in the town and was once the seat of the princely court. The church is built on different vertical levels that start with the Roman thermal baths in the foundations to the high palatine chapel that stands several metres above. There are a series of wall paintings that underline the Byzantine influence of the late 12th Century, which came to light in the hypogeum area of the church. It has a bell tower dating to around the middle of the 12th Century.
