This lovely church of San Nicolò dates back to 1782. The large Greek community in Trieste was separated from the Orthodox Serb community after serious disagreements. It was only after years of work that the architect Matteo Pertsch finished the last façade in 1819 and who, in neo-classical style, decorated it with six iconic columns that support a tympanum flanked by two bell towers. The interior is rich in icons and with seats reserved for the most important Greek families. Cesare dell’Acqua has two paintings here that depict a Blessing Jesus (1854) and Saint John Preaching (1852).
