The pretty medieval hamlet of Piediluco sits on the shores of Lago Piediluco and is a popular place with visitors. Here you’ll find the 13th Century church of San Francesco, reached by climbing a flight of steps. One door is bricked up and has a beautiful frieze decorated with knots and lions. The interior walls are adorned with frescoes from the 16th Century, several of which are worthy of note, including a ‘Madonna and Two Saints’ by Marcantonio di Antoniazzo. The stoup is formed from a Roman capital and there’s also a Roman statue of a lady, in a niche.
