The church of San Fortunato dates to the 14th Century and was originally known as Santa Maria in Scolca. It was erected on the ruins of a castle that was given to the hermit monks of Saint Paul’s by Carlo Malatesta. A sea of green and beautiful houses and magnificent villas surrounds the churchyard. Many restorations and changes were made during the 17th Century, but the Renaissance style was kept and is highlighted by ‘L’Adorazione dei Magi’ a masterpiece by Giorgio Vasari created in 1547 located behind the main altar.
