The impressive Rivoli Castle was built in a strategic position atop the Morainic hill at the opening of the Susa Valley. It came into the possession of the Savoy family during the 16th Century and restoration work was carried out between 1715 and 1727 by the architects, Ascanio Vitozzi, Carlo and Amedeo Castellamonte, Michelangelo Garove and Juvarra. It became the home of the Museum of Contemporary Art in 1984 showing both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
