The Rasi Theatre is now housed in the former Church of Santa Chiara, built at the same time as the adjoining monastery in 1250 by Chiara of Polenta. The Monastery was home to the Clare Order until the time of Napoleon’s suppression of the church, which was then given over to riding stables. Following the request of the Accademia Filodrammatica to be allowed to use the buildings, the Teatro Filodrammatico was established in Ravenna, opening in 1892.
