Quartiere della Vittoria is a very elegant district that lies towards the Risorgimento Bridge on the left bank of the Tiber. It was after the international architectural competition of the 1911 Exhibition that it was characterised by small villas and palaces. The main area of Vittoria is Viale Mazzini, with a square designed by Raffaele De Vico in the form of an ancient nymphaeum, with a fountain in the centre. Marcello Piacentini, for whom a 15 metre-tall monument was erected in Piazza Mazzini, designed the district church, the Cristo Re.
