The 16th Century Protonobilissimo Risolo castle is a beautiful construction and can be found in the heart of Specchia, near Tricase. About 60 km from Lecce, Specchia is considered one of the most gorgeous small towns in Italy. The name comes from ‘specchie’, which means heaps of dry stones primarily used for defence purposes. Handed down to the families of the different feudatories, it was the residence of the Protonobilissimos, the Marquis of Specchia, from 1500 to 1600, and today the Risolo family own it.
