The Porta Serrata gate gives access to the city at the start of the Via di Roma on the north side of the town from the road, which leads to Sant’Alberto. The gate has also been known by the names Porta Anastasia and later in its life, Porta Cybo. The oldest documentation relating to the gate is from 1235; it is built of brick with marble and Istrian stone inserts. The arch is decorated with an ashlar motive and a vault keystone that is suggestive of Greek triglyphs.
