The Porta San Mamante gate is on the south side of the town, between the Via Baccarini and the Via Bastioni and S. Mama. It is a very old gate from the 11th Century and in documents from the 12th Century is called the Porta S. Mama. The present building only dates from 1613, made from brick and Istrian stone. The name of the gate originates from the church and Monastery of San Mamante that was close by. The gate was completely rebuilt in 1612-1615 when Domenico Rivarola was cardinal legate.
