The Porta Adriana stands between the Via Cavour (inside) and the Piazza Baracca (outside), near to the old city centre. It was moved and restored by Cardinal Legato Capoferro around 1545. To the sides of the gate there were originally two semi-circular crenellated towers, they were however replaced in the 18th Century by the two square bastions that are now visible and date from 1583, and on the roof there is a garden which is also open to the public.
