The Politeama Rossetti was built in 1878 and named after the humanist Domenico Rossetti, a Trieste citizen. It is one of only two theatres that survive from the original five in the city. It is the home of the local theatre company for the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region, and is a grand looking building and an imposing feature in the Viale XX Settembre. In the city that boasts the greatest number of theatre lovers in Italy, they say that buying season tickets for the Rossetti’s shows is a habit that cannot be broken.
