Raffaele De Vico designed the Parco del Colle Oppio during the mid 19th Century. This had the aim of making the city centre more attractive in accordance with a plan that had begun during the Napoleonic era. There is a beautiful octagonal fountain decorated with terracotta amphoras known as Canestro’s Fountain sited in the park which attracts many visitors who can be seen posing for photographs in front of it. Also there are Nymphaea with tufa decorations, fountains dedicated to Nero and Trajan, and many different statues.
