An arch on the right of the Via Duca degli Abruzzi marks the old entrance to the Palazzo Reale. The palace only has part of its original façade, the rest having been destroyed by the 1693 earthquake. It once provided a place to stay for some famous figures such as Joan of England, the wife of the Norman King William II, Charles V in 1535 and Constance of Aragon - the town of Randazzo was the summer residence of the Spanish court.
