Count Baldassarre Paesana of Saluzzo commissioned the palace in the 8th Century. Unfortunately the heirs of the count were forced to lease it to recover part of the huge cost of construction. The large courtyard is probably the most important part of the building because of its two entrance porches with columns, enhanced by two precious porticoes. On the first floor, the side facades feature high windows surmounted by arched tympanums, creating movement, whereas the two severe grand staircases define the sumptuous overall effect.
