The Palazzo Gambalunga was formerly the family home of Alessandro Gambalunga. He was well known patron of the Arts and left his home to the Rimini Council on his death in 1617. Today it houses the town library. The library holds some very precious and ancient documents, like manuscripts dating to 1350, two signatures by the humanist Basino da Parma, and De Civitate Dei that was written for Pandolfo Malatesta (the so-called ‘Gradenighiano’ from Dante’s Divine Comedy). In the courtyard there is an old well, now closed over; however here is where the students spend their time during breaks.
