The original Palazzo di Città dates from the mid 17th Century. Today, the palace has a rusticated doorway and tall windows on the first floor. On the central part of the facade is the town clock with a niche on each side. In the 19th Century the doorway was enlivened with fresco paintings by Morgari, which include portraits of Cavour, Gioberti, and Azeglio. Outside are statues of Eugene and Ferdinand of Savoy, and inside are those of Charles Albert and Victor Emmanuel II. The grand staircase, Mayor’s Room, Council Room and Congregations have beautiful decorations by Dauphin, Casella and Recchi.
