The Palazzetto del Podestā was erected in 1334, but has undergone many transformations over the course of the centuries. It was dramatically changed, along with the Palazzo dellArengo and even partly demolished when it became part of a 17th Century building. The newer Lombard style largely hid the older buildings Gothic shape. The famous architect Gaspare Rastelli sometime between 1912 and 1922 restored the entire piazza to its former glory. It has three Gothic front arches, the central arch was once used to hang criminals.
