The Palazzo D’Avossa was originally the home of the Della Calce family and one of the most important structures of the 1600s. The D’Avossa family were also Salerno nobles who were forced to leave Spain to escape unjust persecution. The Palazzo has a barrow vault entrance that opens onto a courtyard with statues placed in marble niches. To the right of the courtyard is an elegant staircase that leads to the upper floors; the last two floors were added later. The magnificent stairway walls depict episodes of ‘Jerusalem Freed’, while old stables were sited in the courtyard.
