As is shown by the coat of arms above the doorway, the Palazzo Copeta was once owned by a family of noble origin. It faces west towards the sea with the palace dominating the whole gulf. Palazzo Copeta along with the stately homes of Conforti and Ruggi is one of the most elegant residencies built on the site of the ancient cemetery of the Santa Maria Monastery in the old town during the 18th Century. The ground floor was once stables, a carpenter’s shop and storerooms opening onto a courtyard with a central fountain.
