On the left hand side of the old medieval market square you will find four Roman arches. These arches are what remain of a once great structure. They are known as Nicchioni (niches) and were erected around the 1st Century AD. Their original use isn’t known, but they may have supported part of the Forum above, or been a section of the wall of a temple. Visitors can see part of a Roman mosaic in front of the arches.
