The Natural Marina of Miramare is a reserve that stretches over more than 30 hectares in an area in front of the Castello di Miramare. It is considered a site of scientific and cultural interest because of its natural and geomorphologic characteristics and for the high biodiversity of the vegetable and animal life it contains. An institute set up in 1989 known as the Centre for Marine Environment Education is now housed here with the aim to create programs in the biology and marine ecology sectors.
