The National Museum of Palace of Venice (Museo di Palazzo Venezia) holds one of the world’s foremost collections of medieval and Renaissance art. The Renaissance paintings, decorated wooden sculptures and chests have been collected from all over Italy. Beautiful European tapestries, Neapolitan ceramics, 17th and 18th Century artwork, silver and suits of armour can also be seen here. There are terracotta studies by Bernini of the Triton fountain and the decoration of Castel Sant’Angelo. But arguably the museum’s finest piece is a 13th Century enamelled Byzantine Christ.
