The Museum Ferroviario is housed in the old Campo Marzio, which was opened in 1906 by the Archduke Ferdinando. It gives an insight into the evolution of railway transport using documents, photos, models, videos, locomotives, carriages and more than 1,500 books dedicated to the subject. The exhibition has been set out covering four sections: history, labour, electrical systems and movement. A fifth section has been set aside devoted to the tramways of Trieste, Istria and Friuli. You are able to ride an old train leading to the outskirts of Trieste or to Bled, near the Slovenian border.
