The Museum Correale has been described as the most beautiful province museum of Italy. Here you will find Capodimonte and Sévres ceramics, Bohemia crystal, Murano glassware and a display of watches. There is work by painters of the 17th and 18th Century including that of the Posillipo School. Worthy of note is the 19th Century inlaid work which includes tables and jewellery boxes. Many of the museum’s pieces were donated by the poet Salvatore Gargiulo and the library has works by the poet Torquato Tasso as well as his mortuary mask.
