The Minerva Garden is the first botanical garden in Europe for cultivating plants for therapeutic use. Sited in the heart of the old town, close to the Fusandola stream and the ancient medieval walls, the garden has the appearance of a terraced – walled orchard. There are elements dating back to the 1700s and are fabulous, such as the fountain on the terrace, a log terraced stairway bordered by stuccoed pillar leading to a belvedere that is covered by a pergola. There is also an intriguing way of distributing water by troughs and fountains on every terrace.
