The Madonna di Carmine Sanctuary in San Felice del Benaco was built by the Carmelites on the site of a previous chapel in 1482. Abandoned in 1770, it was restored in 1952 to its original state, when precious frescoes were uncovered which date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. The style of the building is a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and typical Lombardy. The sanctuary attracts many visitors who are drawn here not only because of its artistic importance but to pay homage to the amazing statue of the Madonna, Patroness and Queen of the Valtenesi region.
