The Marian sanctuary of the Madonna della Misericordia can be located quite close to the Augustus Arch. The building, with its brick lined façade was constructed in a Latin cross shape. The neo-classical nave is one of the church’s finest features. The interior houses a very famous work of art by Giuseppe Soleri depicting the Blessed Virgin. This magnificent canvas has a frame made from solid silver and gilded bronze and is embedded with gems.
